夕張市道営住宅集会所

集会所はおおらかな屋根で包み込み、集いの場にふさわしく、周辺の山並みと建築が呼応して、一つながりに見えるような風景を創り出すために、方形屋根を採用した。周辺からは、昼間は軒によって生まれる木陰で落ち着きを感じ、夜は室内と軒の木造架構が浮かびあがり、行灯となって周囲を照らす、活気と安心感を与える計画とした。平面計画は、新設の道営住宅や近隣住宅を暖かく見守るように、それぞれに顔を向ける多角形の平面とした。外周すべての面が表となる構成とすることで、人々の活動やふれあいを喚起することを意図している。各住戸から集会所内での人々の活動が見え、その活動が建物の印象となる計画とした。

The community hall is enveloped by a generous hipped roof, creating a welcoming form suitable for a place of gathering.
To shape a landscape in which the building harmonizes with the surrounding mountain ridges, the design adopts a simple yet dignified pyramidal roof, allowing architecture and nature to appear as one continuous scene.
From the surrounding area, the deep eaves provide a calm and shaded presence during the day, while at night the wooden structure beneath the eaves glows softly from within, becoming a lantern that illuminates the neighborhood and evokes both vitality and a sense of security.
The floor plan takes a polygonal form, with each face oriented toward the newly built public housing and neighboring homes, as if watching over them warmly.
By giving every façade an equal presence, the building invites openness, interaction, and shared activity.
From each dwelling, residents can see the life and movement within the community hall — those daily activities themselves shaping the identity and expression of the architecture.
